The Skin Assessment

Our SkinDetect Test assesses protein, hormone, and antibody levels to identify abnormal inflammation that could be preventing you from achieving clear, radiant, and healthy skin.

Created by scientists, exclusively for iuno, so you can eliminate guesswork.

Skin is a reflection of your inner health

What you see as symptoms on your skin can have different root causes. Research shows how specific proteins in your blood are responsible for specific conditions like rosacea, hyperpigmentation and others.

  • Hormones

  • Aging

  • Allergies

  • Stress

  • Lifestyle

  • Metabolism

  • 1

We look at dozens of blood proteins that are mapped to dryness, aging, redness and discoloration.

  • 2

We then use this information to model skin health scores for skin barrier strength, skin firmness, skin function and your proteomic age (a measure of your body’s biological age, which may differ from your chronological age)

  • 3

Our team is constantly working to improve our skin model. In the nearest future we’re looking to add skin scores for collagen, hyperpigmentation and skin type.

Collection methods

Easy and Convenient At-Home Collection

Our at-home sample collection method is clinically validated against traditional methods to meet rigorous standards for test accuracy and reliability. Dried blood spot (DBS) testing we offer has been a trusted sample collection method for over 30 years. iuno offers an established collection method, carefully and optimally designed so that quality lab testing can happen from home.

What affects my Sample?

Day of Process

Unless you’re going through a life-altering event like pregnancy, major surgery, you’re an astronaut or a pro-athlete, the balance of your blood proteins, analyzed for the SkinDetect test, is not affected by your day-to-day lifestyle decisions. Being more or less active, slipping in your eating habits or simply drinking less water on the day of the test, will not affect your skin scores.

It takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on your overall lifestyle for your blood proteins to change, hence we recommend repeating the test within this window.

Sample Handling

Lab Processing

Every sample that our partner lab receives has a unique barcode ID that is used to identify the sample throughout the entire testing process. This barcode ID is linked to the customer and ensures the results are accurately delivered to the correct person and greatly reduces the incidence of associated errors (e.g., a sample mix up because of human error in writing/tracking).

Our partner lab uses thoroughly validated extraction protocols to process samples in order to ensure the highest level of sample fidelity and quality of testing results. Each extraction protocol goes through strict scrutiny and is held to the same high level of quality standards as the method validations performed at our partner lab. The sample extraction validation is included in the method validation (when appropriate) to ensure the end to end process produces the highest quality and most accurate results possible.

Consumer Data Protection

HIPPA Compliancy

Under no circumstance do we ever sell our customers' data, and we use state-of-the-art, bank-grade encryption to ensure data security. Customer information is only shared with the lab and physicians that are part of our testing process. iuno’'s best-in-class, secure handling of personal health information earned the company “Highly Compliant” status per the HIPAA/HITECH Security Standards.

Here at iuno we are striving to be a thought leader in the proteomics community. We seek supplemental data from our customers for more qualitative aspects of our research on an opt-in, voluntary basis only. We will always anonymize, de-identify, and aggregate data in any published research we produce. Check out our full user agreement and consent to services  for more details.
